With us beginning a release/patch cadence of every two weeks, here is what you can expect in the upcoming release and what events are on the horizon. The release is expected to go live Wednesday, May 3rd at approximately 13:00 UTC. This release will be a rolling release, meaning we will scale up the percentage of people with the release over a few days to minimize bugs or crashes. Below you will find the updates included in this release.
- Changes will be made to PowerUps to improve their effectiveness and usefulness. These changes apply to PowerUps any time they are earned, and are not specific to events and will be implemented once the 1.39 release is rolled out to 100% of devices. More information in this link.
- Coffee Stop is coming May 10! Coffee Stop allows you to take a break for up to 3 minutes while your avatar stays with the group. This feature is available for up to 30 seconds in the first 5 minutes of your ride, and then available for the full 3 minutes after 30 minutes of riding. Once you activate Coffee Stop, you will have up to 3 minutes to step off your bike for any reason, and will then have to wait 30 minutes to use it a second time. You can read more information about Coffee Stop in our This Season on Zwift post here.
- Starting with version 1.39, we will no longer support OpenGL on macOS. All new versions will only support Metal.
- Changed the location of language settings to the login screen for all devices and added the option to change language in the settings option screen
- Fixed a crash that could occur when attempting to spawn a HoloReplay on a segment as the Zwifter approached.
- Changed the way HoloReplay names appear on the Riders Nearby List in an effort to make it more clear which HoloReplays are present.
- Fixed a bug that would cause HoloReplay settings to not display correctly for routes and segments when the setting to show HoloReplays for routes, segments, or both was changed.
- Fixed an issue that would cause the drops multiplier to incorrectly change when disabling the HUD during Pacer Group rides.
Zwift is moving to a two week release cadence which will allow for more frequent updates. When planning for this switch to bi-weekly from monthly releases, we had planned a chronological release order. But, due to the scale of the 1.34 release and the slow rollout plan, we missed some dates. With release 1.39, we are now back on our planned schedule.
We will be deprecating iOS 12 for Zwift Companion starting May 31. This will bring Zwift Companion requirements in line with the Zwift App.
With the 1.39 release, we will be testing a new HoloReplay spawn with a small group of Zwifters. The goal is to spawn a Replay of another Zwifter on a given segment that will feel just challenging enough for you to chase down. The Replay selected from the leaderboard will be based on your 60 day power curve and current speed into the segment. Because this is in testing, we do not have a firm release date yet.
Check out the details for events that are coming up in the next month. All events are available to be covered in marketing promotions beginning the date of registration or first in-market date.
