Zwift, the global online fitness platform, has today announced the return of the Women’s Ride and Run Series for 2022. The series begins with ‘Power of the Pack’ rides and runs on 8th March, International Women’s Day, and continues throughout March.
Zwift is celebrating the strides taken for women’s sport equality while recognizing and promoting more to be done. With the Women’s Ride and Run Series, Zwift is calling on the women’s community to celebrate, connect and inspire each other while recognizing female trailblazers who have paved the way for the evolution in women’s sport.
“Women’s History Month on Zwift presents a great opportunity for women to come together and celebrate the community on Zwift,” says Kate Veronneau, Director of Content and Women’s Strategy. “We’ve come so far for equality in sport and 2022 is going to be a fantastic year for women in sport and cycling with the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift. This series is a chance to stop for a moment and recognise the rulebreakers and trailblazers that have gone before us and pushed the boundaries for women’s sport.”
Beginning on International Women’s Day, 8th March, the in-game series will offer the women’s community on Zwift the opportunity to celebrate and unite through weekly in-game women’s-only events, workouts, and podcasts featuring women of the Zwift community.
In addition to the events on the platform, Zwift will continue to sponsor the Women’s Sports Foundation, which exists to enable girls and women to reach their potential in sport and life. New for this year, Zwift is launching a new partnership with The Cycle Effect, an organization that empowers young women through mountain biking to create brighter futures and build stronger communities. Internally, Zwift is educating and advocating equality through one of the newly-formed Employee Resource Group, Zwift Women’s ERG, which is committed to empowering and supporting women and their allies.
The Women’s Ride and Run Series begins on 8th March, International Women’s Day, and runs for the rest of March. More information, including details of how to take part in each event can be found at zwift.com/women.
